However, it seems that Akutami has already made some decisions regarding the fate of certain characters, and it’s not the protagonist, Yuji Itadori.

In an interview published in the Jujutsu Kaisen mini-character book, Akutami revealed their thought process behind the conclusion of the series, as well as the ending for Megumi Fushiguro, one of the key characters in the story.
“I have decided on the final chapter and also the conclusion for every important point, but I’m still undecided about many points in between. I have also decided on Fushiguro’s ending, but I haven’t decided on Itadori’s ending yet,” Akutami shared.
This statement suggests that Akutami has already planned out the overall direction of the series and has a clear vision for how certain characters will conclude their arcs. However, there are still some details that need to be worked out, particularly regarding the main protagonist, Itadori.
One character whose ending has been decided is Megumi Fushiguro. Currently, Megumi’s role in the future chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen is uncertain. He has been possessed by Sukuna, a powerful curse, who has taken control of his body. Unlike Itadori, Megumi has been unable to regain control over his own body, raising the possibility that he may already be dead.
However, given Megumi’s significance in the story, it is likely that he is still alive. Even if he has managed to survive, it is clear that he has endured immense emotional and mental strain from the weight of his responsibilities and the loss he has witnessed. It is possible that a pivotal moment in the narrative may result in Sukuna’s demise, allowing Megumi to escape with his life.
While the future of Megumi’s character remains uncertain, his importance in the series suggests that he will play a significant role in the final chapters. Therefore, it is highly likely that Megumi’s story is far from over.
